Strengthening Safety Through CPR & First Aid Certification

 

On December 12, 40 participants completed a CPR and First Aid class focused on developing essential life-saving skills.

The training covered how to respond effectively to emergencies such as cardiac arrest, choking and drowning. Attendees learned to perform CPR and received instruction on the proper use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). 

Class Highlights:

  • Special Considerations: Techniques tailored for providing aid to infants and children.
  • Choking Response: Step-by-step training on how to assist a choking victim using abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver).
  • Hands-On Practice: Interactive exercises with mannequins and AED units for real-world application.

CPR certifications are valid for two years. This class was offered at no cost to SMW Local 104 members, managers and office staff.
