2010 Intern Program
Thank you for your interest in participating in the Bay Area SMACNA Intern Program. We will have many Intern positions available throughout the East Bay, South Bay, North Bay, The Peninsula, and San Francisco Areas.
The purpose of the Bay Area SMACNA Intern Program is to raise the level of awareness about the different career opportunities available throughout the sheet metal industry. Careers such as a skilled trades person, service technician, detailer, architect, estimator, purchasing agent, project manager, engineer, or in information services are all opportunities sometimes overlooked because not enough information is disseminated to influence students to look into careers available in the construction industry. The Intern Program also identifies students who may benefit from a Bay Area SMACNA Scholarship.
The rate of pay for hiring an Intern is a minimum of $11.00 per hour, subject to negotiation between the Intern and Employer.
- All applicants are required to be students at least 16 years of age.
- Students under the age of 18 are required to obtain a work permit from their school.
- Employers are encouraged to recruit Interns for employment.
- Interns hired for office administrative duties may work throughout the school year.
- Interns hired for shop/field duties may only work between May 1 and September 30th.
